About Me
Well, how should I start?
My name’s Matt, I’m 21 and I live just north of London.

Yeah, that’s a good start…
I live with my non-vegan, non-vegetarian family (mum, dad & brother) and my beautiful dog:
What else can I say?
Perhaps I’m not so much of a ‘Kid’ anymore, but too often have I been likened to Peter Pan (the boy who never grew up).
I like to call myself an actor, but work can be pretty slow.
I have always been passionate about animal rights.
I became vegan in 2007 after having been vegetarian from the age of 10.
Despite being mocked and critisised for my choices, not once did I question them.
Even at the tender age of 9, an animals life meant more to me than being accepted.
On to the food…
I like most things but not chilli. As a vegan ‘kid’, it is the one spice I refuse to use!
It has no flavour. Only heat!
(I’m sorry to any ardent chilli fans who are reading)
OK, theres a “hate”, what about an “addiction”?
Tough one, as this will vary.
Currently?
I am addicted to vegan sushi! I am forever popping into Japanese restaurants, asking if they use mayonnaise to prepare their rice. If not, I can be known to buy out their stocks on an impulse craving…

Then again, you can’t beat homemade sushi!

Hey, my name is Sarah am 24 and vegan. I have been vegetarian a long time and recently turned vegan. I am finding it difficult at the moment and need to do lots of experiments in the kitchen. Its great that there is so many sites out the for vegans (also I am gluten free). I am looking forward to my journey of a healthy vegan
Hi Matt,
We love the blog and we wondered if you might like to exchange links as we believe that it would be something that many of our vegan customers would also find interesting too.
We have two UK based online shop websites that sell entirely vegan products with more ranges being added all the time. The websites are at http://www.shopvegan.co.uk and http://www.veganhealthandbeauty.com. We are a vegan owned/run company and are also registered with the Vegan Society too.
We would like, if possible, to exchange text links and hoped that you might be able to list us under your “online stores”.
Kind regards,
Stacey
Well done Matt,
A great website -
“Unto yourself be true” – It’s not always the easy path to take but , it does get you to where you want to be in the end.
Good luck

Great website! Though I’m most certainly not the world’s greatest cook, I’ll definitely be trying out some of your recipes…
Hey Matt just wondering if you email me your contact information for future information regarding Vegan foods. I work for a PR company and we are looking to build relationships with specialist food bloggers!
If you could get back to me either way, thanks!
hi vegan kid! or Matt or whatever it may be
high-five to the vegan-ness!! (me too… obviously). none of my family are vegan/veggie either. do your family accept you for being vegan? jeez, I suffer such ABUSE for being vegan (not literally— I’m being over-dramatic). great blog, by the way- haven’t found any vegan blogs for anyone under the age of 30, until now, of course
so thankyou for writing your blog
p.s I just realised Gizmo is like gizmo from gremlins!!!!! wow, pretty darn cool
and Poppy is adorableeeee too
Hi Matt,
My name’s Miranda, and like you, I’m a young vegan.
Well done Matt, a super website, and It’s great to know there’s lots of other like-minded people out there!
I wish you good luck with your website!
Miranda xx
P.S your pets are georgeous!

A quick note about PETA (listed on your website)…
They are doing a lot to make the public aware on many issues regarding animals.
However….
1) Their have a bank account with Barclays, the worst UK bank (together with few others) in ethical; terms (animal rights, human rights, environment etc.). With so many banks doing better….
http://www.ethiscore.org/reports/free/banks_internet_banking.aspx
Other equally important issues…
# Support of “happy meat”:
* http://www.abolitionistapproach.com/peta-and-kfc-no-differences-of-opinion-about-how-animals-should-be-treated/
# Strong links with Peter Singer who thinks animals are inferior and do not deserve equal consideration, who supports vivisection whenever necessary (??)
* http://www.abolitionistapproach.com/peter-singer-supports-vivisection-why-are-you-surprised/
etc.etc.
With so many organization doing an awesome job out there for the animals, I would argue that Peta, their welfarism, their sexism etc. could just be let alone.
Good luck with your blog, though!!
Hi Geo,
Thanks for the comment! I hear what your saying about Peta and I am shocked by some of the articles you referenced, but whilst their ethical policies may be far from flawless, I support their main aims.
I believe that whilst companies should strive for a completely compassionate and ethical business, it is not always possible. I don’t like to critisize companies which in general are working for a better world for animals.
I believe that if a organisation or company is supporting or working to produce vegan products and follow compassionate and environmentally friendly policies, we shouldn’t nit-pick at the finer details. To an extent, by doing that, we are isolating the vegan movement and making it difficult for a change to ever happen. Sometimes a company may not have the funds or status to achieve such an ‘ask’.
Don’t get me wrong. I do agree that Peta isn’t the best example of an ethical organisation and they clearly do have the status/funds to sort it out but I wouldn’t stop supporting their work. Instead I would campaign for Peta to change!
I will be happy to put up any links to any organisations you feel should be listed. Just drop me a line =)
Also, just out of interest, do you read the Ethical Consumer magazine?
